But if you got a decent machine it will run like clockwork. I ran it on my old P4, 512mbR without hickups. Besides, if you want to try ubuntu you can always use LiveCD (as you did) or dual boot by installing it via wubi inside windows. Or you can first use the LiveCD, divide your OS-HDD into two partitions install Ubuntu on one and XP on the other. What you'll do i leave up to you though.
